About the Hymer

Ours is a 1992 Hymer S700 - LHD with a manual gear box, power steering and cruise control.

We had a new Omnistor awning to replace a very tired old one, and also use Wind Blocker curtains to create shade, some privacy, and stop rain and wind.

It has bench seats at the front, and a U Shaped Lounge at the back. In pretty original condition, with some replacements such a newer awning, Teleco TV aerial instead of the original analogue satellite aerial, and refillable LPG gas tanks with a filler in the skirt. We have a second leisure battery fitted in the base of the wardrobe opposite the shower and toilet.

The bench front seat configuration, so we do not have the bar seat fitted on the right hand side, underneath is the blown air heater and a little storage, and under the left bench seat is the fresh water tank:

And at the rear you can have a fixed rear bed, or in our case a rear lounge that converts into a double bed:

The gas locker contains two Alugas Cylinders, with a filler in the skirt. Converted by Peter Hambilton:

Although we still have the original hubs, I have replaced them with plastic ones from Parma Industries - nice that they do a range for old motorhomes, including those with 14" wheels and twins on the rear.

We also had a OmniBike lift fitted, as it is long way to lift them from the ground on the original way. This one cranks them down to within 2 feet of the ground.

I have also fitted extra mirrors which help a lot being left hand drive. Also the Fresnel lens works well from the FTA when at roundabouts:

In May 2012 an Oyster SAT-DOM ST Vision (GB) 50 Satellite Dome was fitted. This has a small footprint (50x37cm) and was the only one that could have gone in the space - it works to Astra at 28.2 degrees only and requires no other controls and makes for a pretty neat installation, all that is required is a small feed for the power supply in the down cable. It came with single cable and roof cable fittings and gland. I connected this to an Avtex W164DRS TV Set and it worked first time.

Looks like a small Golf Ball radome!
